JoJo looks as excited about her date with Chase as I am.

I made the choice to not share my feelings with any guys before the very end of my journey because I didn't want to put anyone through what I went through with Ben. But sitting down with his mom in that moment, I couldn't hold back. I just felt like, why not? Robby was the first to tell me he loved me, and I was excited to share the love I was starting to feel for Robby too. The look on his mom's face after I told her I was falling in love shed all of my fears … that is, until Robby's ex came back into the conversation …

And then there was Luke, a man from my home state, Texas. JoJo’s from Texas too. A lot of great folks are Texans, and it was clear from the huge reception that JoJo got when she arrived that Luke’s family and friends were ready to welcome her with open arms. But when it came down to the words of affirmation JoJo so clearly needs, Luke fell a little short, but all of that was about to change.
Let me be clear: not all Hometown date drama is created equal. There is a distinct difference between the Jordan Hometown drama and the Robby Hometown drama. Not to belittle it, but the Rodgers family issue with Aaron Rodgers is really good television. And the fact that Aaron is (apparently; this was news to this sports ignoramus) a huge star makes it all the more (in that gossip rag way) fascinating. Sure, there’s a sense of an invasion of family privacy, but that’s basically the point of reality television to begin with; Jordan surely knew this would air out at some point (which unto itself is also fascinating). Above all, there’s clearly a story with roots and substance there, and as a viewer that’s compelling and makes me want to know more. Meanwhile, the Hayes family “issue”wasn’t really an issue at all. Whatever Robby’s ex is spewing about him is (or at least should be) irrelevant to the Hometown dynamic, and I feel like producers preyed on Robby’s mother, convincing her to use her precious time with her son (whom she hasn’t seen for months now) to talk about a rumour. If the story his ex is spinning really is so inaccurate, why let it take up so much real estate on a valuable Hometown date?
Did anyone else think it was weird that he (and the show) kept playing up how he was a child of divorced parents? Aren’t like 50% of us? My parents are divorced. I don’t think that makes me any less willing to commit to someone. If anything, it encouraged me to wait to get married until I was absolutely certain that I found the right person.
Robby reveals he's having panic attacks, which I can absolutely vouch happen during the Bachelor process. And look, here to make matters worse, his mom delivers the news that his ex's roommate is talking shit about him on social media, and claiming in particular that Robby broke up with said ex after he found out he was cast on the show. (Yes, you'll have seen this on Reality Steve.)
Luke let you ride on a horse! That’s your heroin, Jojo. You’re ALL about horses. He walked you out to a heart made of rose petals in the fields and kissed you while the sun set behind you. He brought a romance novel to life. Like the romance novel Host Chris wrote. Just like The Perfect Letter’s Amazon page says :“[She] can’t help but feel that Texas, with all of its tangled secrets, is calling her home.” Luke is calling you home and you want to eliminate him? For who? CHASE?
Who. Is. Chase.
This episode, we finally found out. He lives on a damn mountain and his parents got divorced, and apparently that’s the end of his personality. Also, he’s very sad and things weigh heavy on his shoulders. He describes his emotions like this no fewer than six times in the episode. Really? Him? He’s a sad little bird. Jojo literally describes him as having deep wounds.
Chase grabs her face and plants a passionate kiss on her lips before having some alone time with his father. Dad assures Chase that JoJo is good people: She is smart, beautiful and has a head on her shoulders.
Agreed. Headless women are so pretentious.
Chase takes JoJo to meet the rest of his family. It’s a small crowd that includes a bulldog. His mom doesn’t care that ABC came traipsing through her home earlier in the day to set up shop. She’s going to wear her hoodie on national television and you can’t do a thing about it! Her voice is just like a radio personality. She LOVES JoJo. Something tells me JoJo’s mom and Delilah would have a ball chugging their wine on the ski lift chair in the backyard. Open another bottle!
After we are blatantly shown a shot of two empty chairs at the dinner table, JoJo tells the camera that she is happy to meet Jordan’s family but that she wishes the other two chairs were filled with Aaron. And, I’m wondering how many times JoJo had to practice not saying, “And his girlfriend, Olivia Munn.”
A very relentless JoJo continues to perpetuate the “where is Aaron Rodgers” investigation by pulling brother Luke aside privately and immediately asking him immediately about Aaron.
JoJo talks next with dad Ed and, I am not kidding, she even brings Aaron up with him
Chase brings Jojo to his
death traphome, which reminds me of Chad because it’s pretty on the outside but terrible on the inside. The bad news is that Chase comes from a broken family, but the good news is he doesn’t live in his parents’ basement.
JoJo is still disappointed she doesn’t get to meet Aaron. She does get to meet his other brother, the Khloé of the family, and his wife with THAT hair.
That’s why her hair is so big...it’s full of bump-its.
