Matt was as sweet as ever when we spoke and respected the difficult decisions I had made when dividing up my time between the men that week. As I spoke with Matt I realized that he never gave himself the time that he needed to allow himself to pursue me unrestrained. Maybe he was just nervous, or it was the environment? But in reality, he hadn’t been able to get there yet and there were times when he would pull back or tread water with me.
I sobbed saying goodbye to Matt because he reminded me so much of myself. For a moment I remembered what it was like when I was back in Finland after Nick just broke my heart and knowing Matt was experiencing something similar just broke me down. Yet Matt, the gentlest soul I ever knew, somehow ended up comforting me during our goodbye.
My goodbye with Adam later was equally difficult. Although we hadn’t had much one-on-one time together, he always made the most of the time we did share. In the beginning I felt some of his efforts to convince me we had something special felt forced. But that night, looking back on our time together, I knew his creative and thoughtful efforts were genuine. He always put forth the effort and could without a doubt make me laugh. Our feelings were just in different places and I wasn’t sure more time could bring us together.

Dean’s date was beautiful, and it was Easter Sunday in Geneva. Their tour of the town was gorgeous and amazing and all the things you could ever expect from a Bachelorette date, but the conversation during the day did not dive below the surface, and that was very frustrating to Rachel. Thankfully, she called him out on it at night and they talked through his unconventional upbringing, something I know Rachel did not judge him on. I completely understand why Dean would be so reticent to bring someone home, particularly because he hasn’t kept so close to his family in recent years, but I’m really glad he believed that Rachel would see him for who he was as an individual and they both decided to visit Colorado to meet Dean’s family.

Sweet Dean. I love watching him on my television. I love his ever-so-human deflection with humour and laughter, and how considerate he is; instead of rejoicing at getting the 1-on-1, he thoughtfully and immediately addressed Matt and Adam. He is also, from what I can tell, a damn good kisser. But I’m sorry to say I’m seeing it less and less between him and Rachel as a couple. When Rachel zeroed in on his inability to talk about his emotions, he just seemed really, really—for a lack of a better word—young. I get that his family life is not what he wishes it were and had been, and his insecurity about that is totally understandable. But they just don’t seem in the same place in terms of readiness for true partnership and marriage.

First, let’s talk about Rachel’s date with Bryan. I was SO not into it. It’s just not reality. In real life they’re not gonna be driving around in a Bentley and buying expensive watches. I just didn’t really see how this date set them up for success as a couple.
Ok, so let’s kick this off with Rachel’s one on one with Bryan … bentley’s and expensive watches. What??? I’m confused. What happened to spelling bee’s and mud wrestling?? I honestly didn’t get this date … I feel as though it was kind of cheesy BUT having said that, I’m fairly certain I saw a twinkle in Bryan’s eye last night. Or, on second thought, the light must have just reflected off of his ridiculously expensive watch and hit him right in the peepers.

Peter just, to me, seems less and less enthused about the Bachelorette experience as the show continues, and he even tells Rachel that he’s had some “dark days” during the process. Furthermore, he admits to having considered leaving the show. As someone who's been there, I feel like if you’re deeply in love, you’re not going to give up regardless of the cameras and the competition and all the other stress factors. But that’s just my two cents.

Bryan gets yet another one-on-one date, because Rachel has clear favorites and she doesn’t care who knows it. “Curveball, dude!” grunts Adam, who obviously hasn’t been paying attention.
Vulture by Ali Barthwell
What a filler episode! What a long, drawn-out slog for the most inevitable conclusion. We were supposed to hold out hope that maybe Adam (WHO?) or Matt (WHO?) was gonna pull it off in the end.

Why should I listen to you? You’re a virgin who has never been on a one-on-one.

For the first time in six-gazillion seasons, the Bachelorette is down to the final six contestants, and I don’t know two of their names. At this point, I am sure that ABC is just randomly trolling the baggage claim when they arrive at each destination and throw in two random guys to see if anyone is noticing.
I’m noticing, Fleiss. I. Am. Noticing.

Matt (the penguin) is really excited for Rachel to meet his family. I’ll let you choose how you would like to respond to this statement:
A. You laugh, knowing that there’s no way Matt will be visiting Dallas anytime soon.
B. You ask your neighbor, “Who’s Matt?”
Eric just referred to Rachel as “Big Rach” because apparently that’s a thing now? If the boy I was seeing while also making out with 5 of his closest production-enforced friends referred to me as “big” in any way shape or form I would literally set him and everything he loves on fire.
