So, I kind of recapped Monday's night episode in Tuesday's post. I definitely offered thoughts on Robby v. Benzie, and why this decision should be an easy one for Raven (#BENZIE4LYFE), as well as commentary on the disjointed editing of the production shutdown. So go check it out, if you have a moment.
What else happened this week? Plenty, and also nothing at all.
Carly and Evan's wedding was hands-down the highlight of the entire two-night extravaganza. If they can't have their own wedding special, at least they got a dedicated 45 minutes. Well, more like 25 minutes after you remove the requisite Bachelor Nation Wedding Retrospective (TM).
The whole thing just made me happy. Although I do want to know - why didn't Carly's story start when she was on her brother's Hometown Date with Des? That was a thing.
Regardless, it was all so lovely and loving and happy, right?
Well, everyone except Vanessa thinks so. I can't find a screenshot to save my life right now, but we all noticed how miserable she looked, right?
Instead of grumpy Vanessa, you get Ashley I, doing what she does best.
Penguin Matt basically sums up my reaction to the Chris Harrison sit-down:
I know they had to do it. I get it. I read all of the media reports, the commentary, the opinion pieces. I have personally moderated and participated in conversations (online and in person) which included the slut-shaming, the victim-blaming, the racial overtones to the allegations, and everything else discussed on Tuesday night, and trust me - there's a better way to do it. The "afterschool special" tone of the conversation, particularly related to consent, was more self-congratulatory than anything. Like, "look at us! we're having the hard conversations!" When really, they were just talking down to their base and downplaying the real issues that were raised by the shutdown.
You're not having the hard conversations, ABC. You're just making it worse. Ali B said it way better than I ever could. Trust me on that one.
There's no good transition here.
There were dates, there were makeouts, there were awkward encounters. There were multiple people making short jokes about Alex, which...probably isn't going to leave him feeling all warm and cozy.
Last night was a humbling experience.

And in the end, we're left with yet another dude coming into the fray, and the hope that we're finally moving on from Corinne and DeMario.
Next week, we'll see Chris Harrison sit down with Corinne and DeMario.
But! We'll also see Carly and Evan talk about being pregnant, so...
